What's a Medipass Consumer Account and why has it been deactivated

You may have set up a Medipass Consumer Account when you purchased a service from one of these providers, in order to receive an instant private health insurance benefit or to make a payment.

In April 2021, we no longer used Medipass Consumer Accounts to process claims and payments. Instead we switched to new experiences which are simpler and easier to navigate. As we have moved away from Medipass Consumer Accounts and they are no longer used, we're now in the process of ensuring these accounts are deleted.

Medipass Consumer Accounts are no longer available

Medipass Consumer Accounts were deleted on 1 July 2022, so you'll no longer be able to view your transaction history or account details. If you're a patient with any service providers who use Tyro Health Online (previously "Medipass"), this won't affect any of your patient records which they hold, including any claims or payments processed with them and your service provider will continue to be able to use Tyro Health Online to process your claims and payments leveraging our latest patient experiences.

The deletion happened automatically - there was nothing you needed to do. If you want to retain a copy of your transactions, you can either:

  • search your emails for relevant receipts; or

  • contact the service provider who you purchased the product/service from and request a receipt.

What happens after your Medipass Consumer Account is deactivated

As the Medipass Consumer Account functionality has not been used since April 2021, there are no changes to how you pay or claim with Tyro Health Online (for example, when purchasing contact lenses online). Similarly, this upcoming closure won’t affect any of your patient records with any of your service providers who use Tyro Health Online. The only change is that you will no longer be able to access your Medipass Consumer Account to view your prior transactions.
